Homecooked is an innovative enrichment program tailored for transition-aged foster and system-impacted youth in Los Angeles. Blending cooking classes with life skills workshops, the program fosters self-sufficiency by combining nutrition education with practical independent living guidance. Heidi Alsangak, Facilitator

Heidi Alsangak is passionate about youth empowerment and culinary arts. She is a Sudanese American chef at Flavors From Afar, a restaurant and catering company in Hollywood that empowers refugees by providing them with culinary career opportunities. Born in Egypt and raised in Maryland, Heidi's culinary journey is deeply connected to her multicultural background.

Alongside her passion for food, she is a marketing professional and a poet, blending creativity both in and out of the kitchen.
